It's a little talked about resilience-building strategy. It's one I'm about to test out, again.
The last few weeks have brought some huge gifts and some very difficult situations. I'm feeling the need to fill my energy tank back up.
From March 3-6 I have the privilege of being with coaching and coaching chapter leaders from, literally, around the world in Charlotte, NC. Along with 2 other friends and fellow ICF Austin Board Members we will be attending the Global Leaders Conference, hosted by the International Coach Federation.
The schedule includes an excellent line up of speakers, Idea Labs and celebrations.
Have you been feeling burned-out lately? How about disengaged?
Many years ago I was in a very stressful job. It was a politically charged environment, one where shaming and bullying employees were considered great management strategies.
In order to cope with being under-valued and belittled at work I started taking M.Ed. courses. (This soon led to me deciding to to my MA in Counseling.)
What I believe is that we can feed our mind and spirit in creative and unique ways and it fills us up. My job didn't change for a few more months but the fact that I was both being fed and being able to express my best somewhere gave me a whole new ability to get through my work day.
What inspires you?
Is it nature?
Is it art?
Maybe it's listening to inspiring talks. Just spending an hour listening to talks at http://ted.com/ can be time very well spent!
Well, I'm off to get my tank filled! I hope you will give yourself the gift of getting inspired this week!
