Drenched, Not Dripping in Irony

Drenched, Not Dripping in Irony

Just a couple of weeks ago I replace my favorite song with a new one. This is no small thing. My previous favorite song has gotten me through a lot of very important, often highly stressful transitions and events! (Which my poor sons and husband can attest to, when I would play it on repeat for extended periods of time, very loudly.)

I’m going to leave you in suspense about which song that was - I have a special video planned for later and I don’t want to spoil the surprise.

So, just a couple of weeks ago Brave by Sara Bereilles took my Number One spot. One week ago today I lost my voice. I’m hoping it’s laryngitis simply from a cold I’ve had - but I’m using the opportunity to reflect, write, plan, think, read, etc.

So, leading up to losing my voice I’ve been singing “Brave” as often as I can - going for walks with it on repeat, drinking it in. The words are powerful!

Say what you wanna say

And let the words fall out

Honestly I wanna see you be brave

With what you want to say

And let the words fall out

Honestly I wanna see you be brave

I could likely run a contest for coaches and therapists on what’s going on here! What am I supposed to be doing? Learning? Speaking? Writing?

So, in addition to the reflecting, I’ve been getting very adept this week at lip syncing. (Whispering is actually quite damaging to your vocal cords I’m learning.)

So, without further adieu, here is Sara Bereilles singing Brave and me having fun lip syncing part of it for you - “Say What You Wanna Say!”
